The Charleston Shed Co. Difference

At Charleston Shed Co., we believe in high-quality products and unbeatable customer service. While we take pride in the dozens of ways our buildings beat out the “big box store” sheds, here are just a few of the so-called upgrades that come standard in every Charleston Shed Co. shed:

Fully Treated Joist System

The primary area the average shed fails is in the flooring system. Whether it’s rot or termites, the floor is the first thing to go. Unlike “big box store” sheds which only treat the rim joists, every Charleston Shed Co. shed is constructed with a fully pressure-treated joist system. This means every piece of material exposed to the ground is protected for years to come.

Advantech Sub-floor

To further protect your flooring system, every Charleston Shed Co. shed comes with the gold-standard in sub-flooring: Advantech 3/4” sub-floor, which includes Advantech’s whopping 50 year warranty. It simply doesn’t rot.

2x6 roof rafters

After flooring, the next place a “big box store” shed fails is the roof. At Charleston Shed Co., we know a thing or two about buildings that resist strong wind and rain. The first step in preventing roof failure is using a strong material capable of withstanding hurricane force winds. That’s why we only use 2x6 rafters in our sheds.

Hurricane Ties

The next step in protecting your roof is Simpson hurricane ties. According to the ICC, hurricane ties nearly double to wind resistance of any building they’re in. While many “big box store” sheds simply attach the rafters with nails or low-quality brackets, we go the extra mile to protect your investment.

Screwed Framing

After protecting the floor and roof, Charleston Shed Co.’s commitment to quality extends into the walls. While nails are better for siding and roofing (because of their superior shear rating), screws are more than 50% stronger in tensile strength, making them the obvious choice for framing. While it takes a little more time on our end, the increase in strength is worth it.

Ridge Ventilation

To add a bit of comfort to our sheds, ridge vents are standard in every model. Instead of the 8x16 inch gable-vents that most “big box store” sheds use, our 6 foot ridge vent increases airflow by as much as 400%, keeping you comfortable all year and protecting your belongings from heat damage.
